Grace Church Friends of Music welcomes violinist Ava Pakiam, performing with pianist Cole Anderson, on Sunday, May 18 at 4:00 PM.
Concert is free; a reception will follow in the parish hall.
Ava Pakiam is a 14 year old violinist studying at the Pre College of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Ava was admitted into the Pre College program at age 7 and is currently a student of violin professor, Simon James. Ava made her solo debut at eight years old in California performing the Mozart Concerto No. 2 with the Fremont Symphony. Later that summer, she performed Vivaldi’s Winter Concerto with the Sempre Musik Orchestra and New York Sinfonietta in Boston and New York City. Recent and upcoming engagements include the Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Bruch Concerti with orchestras in the USA on both coasts as well as concert tours in Mexico and Honduras. Ava was thrilled to participate as part of the prestigious Salon de Virtuosi Series in NYC.
Dr. Anderson graduated from Oberlin Conservatory with a BM Piano Performance. He holds MM degrees in both Piano Performance and Chamber Music from University of Michigan and he took his DMA from University of Michigan in Piano Performance in Spring 2016. Dedicated to original and authentic performances, Dr. Anderson performs as soloist and in chamber ensemble throughout North and South America, Asia and Europe. Dr. Anderson has served on the piano faculty of the Anchorage Chamber Music Festival, is an Adjunct Professor of Music at Jackson College, maintains a private teaching studio and has university level experience teaching piano at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He specializes in playing and explaining great repertoire from the classics to the most recent creations, from the most well-known composers to the most obscure.

Parking is available in two lots located off Brenau Avenue, with handicap spaces in the lot at the corner of Brenau Avenue and Boulevard. Free street parking is also available.
You may enter through the main church doors facing Boulevard (directly under the bell tower), though our St. Francis Garden (handicap accessible) at the corner of the Brenau/Boulevard corner parking lot, or via the small stairway at Washington Street. Greeters and/or ushers will be available to welcome you to Grace Church, offer assistance, and answer any questions you may have.
