From time to time, I love being able to give an update about how funds from the Discretionary Fund are used in the life of the wider community. This fund is available for immediate needs, and parishes establish them as a means for the rector to use with the staff, vestry, and other parish leaders as we become aware of concerns. It is a gift to have these funds, which are in addition to the Outreach line item in the annual budget as well as the support drawn from our endowment funds. I give thanks to God that we can contribute to these in our shared life.
This year, Fr. Brandon and I are working with the youth to identify needs within their schools. Currently, we have youth in around ten different school systems. Each of those systems has staff and teams who are working to identify needs of students and parents. I am so grateful that we will be able to give a gift from the discretionary fund to every school which our youth attend. This way, the youth themselves will be able to work with school administrators and counselors to see where the needs are within their school communities.
Thank you for all who have contributed to the Discretionary Fund. Having these funds available really matters in the life of our wider community, and it makes me very proud that now our children can share in this as well.
Blessings,
Stuart
