We will observe our annual parish feast day: the Feast of the Holy Cross this Sunday, September 15. CE classes will not meet and there will be one combined service, at 10:00 AM! We will take a new parish family photo (see previous photos) in the nave at the end of the service and then enjoy a potluck picnic and fellowship in the parish hall.
You will also have the opportunity to walk onto the chancel and view the stone embedded in our altar. The stone, carved in the shape of the cross, is from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, in Jerusalem, a site that for over 1,500 years has been the focus of veneration for Christ’s crucifixion and burial. This relic helps us have a physical grounding for our prayers. It is a sacramental experience for us to come forward and offer a prayer and remember.
For our picnic lunch, Grace will provide chicken, macaroni & cheese, green beans, and drinks. Please bring a dish to share according to the assignment below based on the first letter of your last name so we have a nice variety of extra dishes to enjoy!
A-H: hot side
I-N: cold side
O-Z: dessert
Parish feast days give a community a key focus point in the year to pay closer attention to a key facet and teaching from Jesus’s own life. We will also embrace the chance to spend time together as we step more fully into the fall season at Grace.
Christian Education classes for children, youth, and adults will meet from 9:30 – 10:30 AM most Sundays until May 4.
This fall, classes will NOT meet on September 15 (one combined 10 AM service), October 13 (fall break for local schools), or October 27 (one combined 10 AM service).
Our Episcopal Youth Community (grades 6 – 12) will gather for fun and fellowship on Sunday, September 15 from 5-7 PM in room 115 of the Grace Center.
Each year, the parish community makes a commitment to live into God’s call for our lives, and we embody this participation in our operating budget.
This year, our theme is “Behold Who You Are,” a beautiful reminder from the liturgy of the Eucharist: “Behold who you are, the body of Christ. May we become what we receive.” This serves as an invitation for us to reflect on how we are called to embody Christ’s presence in the world.
Pledge cards will be mailed to member households and are available at the church. You also have the option to submit your pledge for 2025 online at the link below.
Registration for the January 17-19 women’s retreat is open to the public! The remaining openings will go fast so please register soon.
Fr. Stuart will lead a pilgrimage to Greece October 13-21, 2025 that is centered around St. Paul, as well as the key virtues of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. Registration is now open and the trip is limited to 30 people.
As part of our ongoing Glimpses of Grace podcast, Meg, Brandon, and Stuart will share conversations around how we make meaning in our lives, paying close attention to how we understand our practice of faith as Christians and human beings in the world today. We’re calling this series “Reflections”. The first conversation is now available, as we get the lay of the land and gather ideas for where continued conversation may go.
We invite you to explore the podcast on Spotify (or your podcast app of choice) or here on this website!
Look ahead to upcoming opportunities for prayer, worship, and community!
