Our annual stewardship campaign is underway. This year’s theme, Faith, Hope, and Love, encourages us to think about what it looks like to be a part of a Christian community at this moment. How is the Spirit inviting us to respond to God’s grace in our lives as we support each other with Faith, Hope, and Love?
Pledge cards have been mailed to member households. (If you made a pledge for 2021, your card for 2022 will be in your 3rd quarter statement.) Extra cards are available at church, and your pledge can also be made online. You’ll read in the letter that comes with your card that our goal for the 2022 campaign is $1.1 million, and why the vestry believes that increase is necessary. Each week in the newsletter, and on a poster in the narthex, you’ll see a graphic illustrating exactly where we are in meeting that goal.
Please turn your pledges in this year with an intentionality worthy of our commitment to each other.
All ages will meet together in the parish hall during the formation hour, 9:30 – 10:30 AM, on Sunday, October 10. We’ll be looking at the practice of gratitude and starting a ‘gratitude pumpkin’ for your fall table!
The next School for Christian Practice discussion group, facilitated by Fr. Stuart, will be October 10 at 6:00 PM on Zoom. We are currently looking at Matthew Fox’s new book Julian of Norwich: Wisdom in a Time of Pandemic–And Beyond. The Zoom link is located in the “on the calendar” section of the newsletter and on our website.
The to-go meal for Wednesday, October 13 is lasagna or eggplant parmesan, Italian veggies, salad, garlic toast, dessert. Adult meals are $10/each and youth meals (grades 6-12) are $5/each. Parking spots are limited and will be filled first come, first served. Meal reservations should be made no later than noon on Monday, October 25. Dinner is optional. No reservation is necessary to wear your costume and come enjoy the trunks and candy and fun. All are welcome!
Mark your calendars and plan to join us on Saturday, November 6 from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM for a Contemplative Photography workshop led by Katie Archibald-Woodward of Life Illuminated. Katie will lead us in a morning of exploring both photography and the practice of contemplation and mindfulness using an approach through which you will be invited to discover the potency and wonder in any photo—from the mundane to the monumental. We will gather in the Ecology Center at the Linwood Nature Preserve. Come hone your skills and learn to see with new eyes! Contact Cheryl for more information.
On All Saints’ Day, we pause and remember all the saints who have gone before us, and celebrate our belief in the communion of saints. During services on November 7, we will read the names of all those from Grace who have died since All Saint’s Day last year. If you wish to remember loved ones, email Brenda Morgan and share those names no later than October 30.
