On Sunday, November 27, parishioners of all ages are invited to come make Advent wreaths together from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Parish Hall. There is no need to sign up. Thirty wreath forms will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. One wreath per household please and a $5 donation would be welcome.
Please bring supplies from home, such as ribbon, pinecones, floral/craft picks and sprays, and additional greenery from your garden, to personalize your wreath and to share with others. You will also find it very helpful to bring small pruning scissors.
Join us on November 27 as we celebrate the beginning of Advent and a New Church Year.
CE classes will not meet on November 27. Everyone is invited to come to the parish hall to make Advent Wreaths and kick off the Advent Season.
There will be no Children’s Chapel on Sunday, November 27.
The deadline to sign up for the Young Adult Dinner Meeting is noon on Monday, November 28!
Our Grace Centering Prayer, Community of Hope, and Daughters of the King will offer an Advent Quiet Day on Saturday, December 3 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. All are invited to come take advantage of time and space for spiritual reflection as we enter the Advent Season. For planning purposes, registration would be helpful. Learn more and register online.
Beautiful flowers and greenery enhance our celebration of The Nativity of Our Lord at Grace Church, and you can help make that celebration special. Contributions to our Christmas flower and greenery fund may be made in thanksgiving for or in memory of loved ones, friends and family. Notice of your donation will be included in the worship bulletin on Christmas Eve.
If you would like to make an offering, please submit both the online form and your donation on or before Monday, December 12.
Shoe Drive to Benefit Homeless Students in Gainesville City Schools
There is a sizable homeless student population in Gainesville City Schools. Our outreach committee met recently with the liaison to these students, Ms. Abbegale Malone, MSW and found out there is a pressing need for shoes. New or gently used athletic shoes may be brought to the parish office Monday through Thursday between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM or to worship on Sundays. Sizes needed are: men’s size 6; women’s sizes 9 and 9.5; boys and girls sizes 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. We will collect shoes until mid-December.
Donations for the Hispanic Alliance
Our Outreach partner, The Hispanic Alliance, is requesting donations of children’s winter coats and baby clothes (new or gently used), as well as infant formula. Your help in supporting our Latino community would be very much appreciated. Items may be dropped off at the parish office Monday through Thursday between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM or to worship on Sundays.
Toys for Family Promise
Grace is once again helping support the Family Promise Christmas Store, which will operate Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10 to allow families to select gifts for their children at drastically reduced prices.. If you would like to donate toys you can shop directly from the Family Promise Amazon or Target online wish lists OR bring new, unwrapped toys to Grace Church and place them in the collection box in the greeting area.
