4:00 PM Choral Evensong for the Feast of Pentecost
Join us at 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 19 for a Choral Evensong for the Feast of Pentecost. Sung at the close of day in Cathedrals and churches all over the world, Choral Evensong focuses on the ancient practice of singing evening prayers. The congregation listens, joins in the hymns, and adds their own prayers to those of the choir.
Congratulations to our 2024 high school and college graduates! Grace Church looks forward to recognizing graduates during the 10:45 AM service this Sunday, May 19!
As we look toward marking the bicentennial, it is time to begin gathering ideas for how we want to shape our celebration!
Some in the parish have already begun sharing ideas, so I wanted to go ahead and invite any interested parties to join our Bicentennial Celebration Committee. If you have interest in this, please email me, and I will begin gathering the group, with plans to have an initial meeting this fall.
We will launch the celebration in fall 2027 and it will last through Christmas of 2028, so it this will give us a wonderful space to give thanks to God for 200 years of shared ministry in this community.
With gratitude,
Stuart
I look forward to sharing a conversation with anyone who wants to come on Sunday, May 19, during the 9:30 formation hour, as part of our Pentecost Party. We will explore poetry and spiritual imagination, paying particular attention to how poetry can nurture an awareness of God’s presence in our lives in challenging times.
If you pre-ordered a copy, I will have those on hand, along with a list of who ordered them. So, no worries there.
Here’s a thought as well: if you have a favorite poem, from whatever genre and poet, feel free to bring it with you as we share this time together!
Blessings,
Stuart
Staff will be available in the greeting area from 9:30 – 10:30 AM on May 19 to help guide people in use of the online directory. Stop by if you have questions or need some help setting up the app.
Please bring an individual and/or family photo on your phone that we can upload to the directory. If you don’t have one, we’ll take one for you!
If you have not yet created your username and password, it would be helpful to do that prior to May 19 if you are able. Instructions are at this link.
The directory is a fantastic way to stay connected—as well as having ongoing access to your family’s pledging and parish information for easy access.
Sign up now if you are interested in joining a fall 2024 foyers group!
More Information & Sign UpA piece of public art has been installed on the Grace Church campus, under the trees and street lamp in the corner of The Grace Center parking lot. The painting arrived a couple of weeks ago as part of an ongoing public art project with the City of Gainesville and the Vision 2030 campaign.
