ADULTS
Fr. Stuart has been working to gather families, parents, and young(ish) folks to see where the Spirit is inviting us as a community, and the time has come to actually name aloud key areas where we can expand and plan. To be clear, this conversation is not just for those who consider themselves “younger;” rather, it is a crucial conversation for our common life across all age groups as we discern where we are being called to invest as a community. Come be part of the conversation at a special forum on January 29 at 9:30 AM in the parish hall.
Dr. Park will resume the Bible study in the chapel on January 29 at 9:30 AM. Please join us and bring a Bible, along with paper and pen to jot notes and questions. This class is open to anyone who has any interest in learning more about the Bible and no previous education on the texts is required in order to join in and enjoy the discussion!
The parenting class will not meet on January 29. Participants are strongly encouraged to join the conversation with Fr. Stuart in the parish hall.
CHILDREN & YOUTH
Children and youth will meet together in room 115 on Sunday, January 29.
Youth will go ice skating together after church on Sunday, January 29. Bring money for lunch, the church will cover skating. Email Mary+ to sign up or get more information!
The remarkable author and mystic Howard Thurman challenges us to listen deeply for the “sound of the genuine” in our lives. In a world that is full of noise and distraction, we are reminded again of the invitation we have to ground ourselves in an abiding awareness of the Spirit’s presence. How can we deepen our practice of prayer so that we can respond more faithfully in this time? We invite you to come and share in a day of listening, rhythm, prayer, poetry, and fellowship on Saturday, February 25 as we reflect together on what it means to be grounded in our practice of faith.
The day will be spacious with time to reflect and rest. River Guerguerian, a renowned percussionist with remarkable gifts for helping us understand the power of sound, will guide us through a series of exercises to help pay attention. We will also share in an imaginative worship space with poetry readings and reflections from Lerita Coleman Brown, Barbara Brown Taylor, Bobbi Patterson, Rebecca Parker, and Stuart Higginbotham. Our deep hope is that your heart can be nurtured as we all seek to live more faithfully.
Look ahead to upcoming opportunities for prayer, worship, and community!
