Fr. Stuart is a co-editor and contributor to the newly published volume Contemplation and Community: A Gathering of Fresh Voices for a Living Tradition. Grace Church will hold a special afternoon reading, signing, and conversation on Sunday, October 6 at 3:00 PM in the Parish Hall.
Please know it is not necessary to purchase a book in order to attend. All are welcome to join us for refreshments and conversation!
As part of our Be Thou My Vision stewardship campaign, we are emailing out and posting on our website a series of short video reflections exploring different angles on the image of vision. We hope you’ve had the chance to watch the second video, featuring Stuart, Cynthia, and special sound effects by Will and our Casavant Opus 3865 organ! Isn’t it amazing how each of the individual pipes come together to make up such a beautiful instrument?
Pledge cards have been mailed to member households, are available at church, and can also be filled out online. Timely submission is incredibly important to our budgeting process, so your reply by Sunday, November 3 would be greatly appreciated!

Our 2020 women’s retreat will be led by Sharon Garlough Brown. Among her many other talents, Sharon is the author of the Sensible Shoes books (featuring friends and spiritual companions Meg, Charissa, Hannah and Mara), as well as a new novel, Shades of Light, (about mental illness and spirituality). She will be releasing her 6th novel, Remember Me, just before our retreat.
While it is not necessary to have read any of these in order to fully participate in and enjoy the Women’s Retreat (If you haven’t already signed up for the retreat, you can register here!) many of you have read some of them, and have inquired about others. Since Sharon Garlough Brown will be our retreat leader, her publisher, InterVarsity Press, makes her books available to participants at 50% off retail. If you are interested in taking advantage of this offer, please click here for additional information.
Grace adults gather each month in the Youth Room to watch and discuss movies old and new addressing a wide variety of subjects. A very casual occasion, participants often bring a little food and drink to share. We always have a good time and lively discussion—join us at 7:00 PM this Friday, October 11.
COG is humbled and thrilled to share that the preschool raised $3,196.42 for Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research in honor of Asher! That worked out to over 600 pennies, almost 800 quarters, dimes, and nickels, and about $1,800 in bills. Thank you for helping us raise awareness and funds to find better treatments and, ultimately, cures for all pediatric cancers. Asher may be our inspiration, but our hope is to show these kiddos we can lead by example and make an impact right here. Again, thank you for your generosity. The preschool is lucky to be part of this team with you!
