On Sunday, November 24, the youth will offer Cakes and Casseroles in the Parish Hall! A selection of delicious smaller portioned items, ideal for couples and singles, will be available for parishioners to purchase prior to the first service, from 7:30 until 8:15 AM. Some goodies on the “for sale” list might include half cakes, small casseroles, individually wrapped slices of cake, bread, and muffins, or brownies and cookies.
The silent auction will begin at around 9:00 AM and bidding will close at 10:30 AM. Please note that no bids will be accepted after the 10:45 AM service! Make sure to place your best and final bid BY 10:30 AM. A few items will also be available in the form of orders to be filled anytime in 2020. Submit the winning bid now and have your casserole, pie, or cake freshly prepared for you later in the year!
This season is full of travel, shopping, entertaining, and many other things that take up our precious time. Let the youth and their families take away a bit of that stress by providing a sweet treat or savory meal for your holiday table. As always, the youth and their families thank you for your continued love and support!
Angel tree gifts should be returned unwrapped, with tag firmly attached, no later than Wednesday, November 27. The gifts can be left in the office during the week, or under the Christmas tree in the greeting area. The generous Angel Tree participation by the congregation in past years has made Christmas wishes come true for so many children. We thank you for your 2019 participation as we welcome the holiday season spirit of giving.
There is no Wednesday evening dinner or program on November 27.
The popular Candlelight Café series will return to Grace on Wednesdays in Advent. After dinner on December 4, 11, and 18 we will linger a bit over our coffee and dessert and enjoy programs for the whole family. Parishioners are encouraged to come relax in Grace Church’s Candlelight Café during the holiday season!
The Children of Grace preschool is on Thanksgiving break from Monday, November 25 until Friday, November 29. Have a great holiday!
The parish office will be closed on Thursday, November 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Grace Church uses original artwork by children and youth (up to 12th grade) in the bulletin for the Christmas pageant service and on our Facebook page (see example below) during the Christmas season.
Please use colored pencils, paint, crayons, pencil, or markers to draw a nativity scene on this page or on an 8 1/2×11 piece of paper. Don’t forget to include your name and age! Submit artwork by Wednesday, December 11: give it back to your Sunday School teacher or drop it by the parish office.
The next date for confirmation and reception is Sunday, March 22 at the Cathedral of St. Philip. If you are considering confirmation/reception, please click here for information.
While the world around us is already singing “Deck the halls with boughs of holly,” for many, the Holiday Season is a difficult time. Each year, we want to be especially available to you. If you would like a phone call or visit especially for the holidays, please let us know. Especially, if you are not able to come to the Sunday services and would like Holy Communion, we want to be present to you. Please contact Brenda Morgan and she will schedule a time for a visit.
Another resource during the holiday season is spiritual direction. Spiritual direction (more accurately called spiritual companioning) can help us deepen our awareness of the presence and action of God in our daily lives. It can be particularly useful when we are feeling estranged from God, during times of transition or difficulty, or when we are trying to make important decisions. It involves meeting periodically, one on one, to discuss where we find ourselves, and listening together for where the Spirit might lead. Contact Cheryl Kelley for more information.
Blessings,
Stuart
