Friday, March 1 is the deadline to register for our March 9 retreat, The Power of Presence: Nurturing a Community of Compassion in Challenging Times. This retreat will feature interfaith leaders from the community, incredible art, poetry, music, and reflections on the power of presence within a community seeking to nurture peace.
River Guerguerian, a world-renowned percussionist from Asheville, will lead an experiential workshop. A henna artist originally from Mumbai, India, now in Gainesville, will be available for those who want to share in this beautiful practice. We will have prayers and reflections from Zoroastrian, Jewish, Christian, and hopefully others colleagues and friends from our community. Also, we will gather prayers and messages of peace on fabric that will be used to construct a peace quilt.
You are invited to share this time together, as we continue to listen for that common heartbeat that unites us all.
Grace Friends of Music seeks to cultivate and support the music ministry at Grace by offering enhancement to regular Sunday worship and providing additional musical services and concerts in our beautiful and historic space. Each year, Friends of Music hosts top-tiered soloists and ensembles while supporting special liturgies to help enrich the musical life of our parish and our community. We will kick off the 2024-2025 concert season with the Georgia Boy Choir and the Franklin Pond String Quartet. In addition, we will host our annual Messiah Sing Along with distinguished soloists and the Cumberland Chamber Orchestra. We will be scheduling more ensembles in the coming months.
Annual Gifts Campaign
We are immensely grateful for the enthusiasm and financial support of the parish that allows Friends of Music to offer meaningful music for our services and concert series. Our goal for the 2024 annual gifts campaign is $30,000. The campaign will gratefully receive your pledge or donation through Easter Sunday, March 31.
Annual Meeting
Grace Friends of Music invites all supporters of the arts to our Annual Meeting on Sunday, March 10 at 12:15 PM in the Choir Room. On the agenda is the 2024 budget, 2024-2025 concert series, Exeter choir tour, volunteer sign ups, and your ideas.
For more information on the gifts campaign or the annual meeting, please email Music Director & Organist Lynn Swanson.
The Community Food Pantry is asking for donations of food to supplement the supplies we have in our pantry. We are especially low on peanut butter, canned tuna fish, boxed dry cereal and boxed dried pasta. We will collect these items at Grace Church from February 26 until March 13. Items can be delivered to the parish office Monday – Thursday from 10 AM until 4 PM or to the Greeting Area outside the Parish Hall on Sundays. Thank you for your support of our community.
