We will observe the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday services on February 14 at 12:00 PM in the nave and 7:00 PM in the nave and online.
The service will feature music (at 7:00 PM), prayers, a sermon, the Litany of Penitence, and the Imposition of Ashes. Let us focus our prayers in these days as we remember that God’s presence surrounds us.
Compline will not meet on zoom as usual on Tuesday, February 13. Instead, the service will be held in the parish hall at the end of the Pancake Supper!
The full annual report is available on our website.
Stuart and Cynthia invite you to spend Lent with them this year, in a special Forum beginning this Sunday, February 11, exploring Walter Brueggemann’s seminal book The Prophetic Imagination. As Brueggemann says, his thesis is: “This task of prophetic ministry is to nurture, nourish, and evoke a consciousness and perception alternative to the consciousness and perception of the dominant culture around us.” The Forum meets in the parish hall from 9:30 – 10:30 AM on Sundays.

(click here for list) Groceries can be taken directly to Family Promise at 3606 McEver Rd, Oakwood, brought to the Grace Center kitchen Monday – Thursday from 10 AM – 4 PM, or left in the Greeting Area on Sunday. In 2023, 19 families were in the Family Promise shelter program with a total of 40 children in those family units. At the end of the year 7 families (14 children) were active in FP and another family has been added in 2024. There is a lot of good work happening at the Homestead making a difference for families of Hall county. Thank you so very much for your support.
On Saturday, March 9 we will gather for a retreat, The Power of Presence: Nurturing a Community of Compassion in Challenging Times. This retreat will feature interfaith leaders from the community, incredible art, poetry, music, and reflections on the power of presence within a community seeking to nurture peace. River Guerguerian, a world-renowned percussionist from Asheville, will lead an experiential workshop. Also, we will write prayers and messages of peace on fabric that will then be gathered into a quilt to embody our intentions of fostering community compassion. You are invited to share this time together, as we continue to listen for that common heartbeat that unites us all.
Look ahead to upcoming opportunities for prayer, worship, and community!
