January 5-11 at Grace

Second Sunday after Christmas

We will return to our full Sunday schedule on January 5, the Second Sunday after Christmas. Join us for Rite I Eucharist at 8:15 AM, Christian Education classes at 9:30 AM, and Rite II Eucharist with carols at 10:45 AM. Children’s Chapel will be held during the 10:45 AM service.

Religious Life Sunday Planning Committee

Just a friendly reminder that we have a Religious Life Sunday planning session in the parish hall this Sunday, January 5, immediately after the 10:45 service. During that time we will make the final plans for our special day. See you there.

Blessings!
Sr. Genevieve Lynn

Compline

Join us for the first Compline service of the new year on January 7. The service meets on zoom at 8 PM each Tuesday. The link is found on our website and in the calendar section at the bottom of every newsletter.

Caregiver Support Group

The Caregiver Support Group, sponsored by Alzheimer’s Association Georgia, will meet in the parlor at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, January 7. Alzheimer’s Association® support groups, conducted by trained facilitators, provide a space for those caring for dementia patients to relieve stress, find comfort, and share resources. The group is open to all. Contact Darlene Hauserman with questions.

Grace Men Sing

Grace Men Sing will provide music for the 10:45 AM service on Sunday, January 19. We are singing the spiritual “Behold That Star”. We would love to have every man out there with a voice to join us!

All you have to do is attend at least two of the three rehearsals scheduled:

  • Sunday, January 5 12:15-12:30 PM in the nave
  • Sunday, January 12 12:15-12:30 PM in the nave
  • Wednesday, January 15 7-7:30 PM in the choir room

We look forward to having you a part of this sing. If you have questions, please ask Lynn Swanson.

Christian Education

CE classes meet from 9:30 – 10:30 AM most Sundays until May 4. Exceptions are January 19, February 16, April 6, April 13, and April 20.

Adults

The Sunday Forum, “Who do you say I am?” will focus on a range of texts as we explore how humans have experienced God throughout the centuries. This class will be, in a key sense, a Bible study as well as an exploration of symbols and archetypes and stories. We will look at the Gospels, at St. Paul’s letters, as well as Genesis, Exodus, the Song of Songs, Job, and even (maybe, if we’re brave) the Book of Revelation. Bring a Bible and a journal or notebook and join us in the parish hall.

The Parenting with Grace class brings together parents at all stages of the parenting journey to support and encourage each other as we navigate the tension between how we long to parent and the daily hustle of life. We are exploring Justin Earley’s book Habits of the Household, which introduces easy to implement daily rhythms that provide a greater sense of peace and purpose as we create homes where we practice how to love God and each other. Having a personal copy of the book is helpful for personal study and group discussion but is not required to attend. This offering meets in the conference room of the Grace Center.

Youth

Youth in grades 6 through 12 will meet in room 115 for EYC (Episcopal Youth Community). The primary goal of the Youth formation program is to equip our young people with the skills necessary to engage their peers in thoughtful and respectful discourse regarding the Christian faith and to develop the skills to explore their own journey of faith. This winter and spring we will explore woman leaders in the Bible.

Children

Children up through grade 3 make meaning of scripture through story, wonder, and play. Godly Play is offered for older 3s through Kindergarten in room 109 and for children in grades 1, 2, and 3, in room 111.

Children in grades 4 and 5 meet in room 126 for Whirl. This video-based curriculum is designed to teach kids how the Bible is relevant to their lives and relates to the church lectionary.

Winter/Spring Foyer Groups Forming

Sign up now if you are interested in joining a winter/spring 2025 foyers group!

Not sure what “foyers” is? Quite simply, foyers is an opportunity for those who participate to become better acquainted and enjoy each other’s company. Small groups of adults (typically 6-10 people, couples and singles welcome) meet in one another’s homes for a simple meal and fellowship. The group rotates homes until everyone in the group has had a chance to host.

Singles are always welcome to sign up for foyers! If you are interested, however, in possibly sharing hosting duties and expense with someone else, please contact Caryl Rinker. She is happy to put people in contact with one another to form “foyer partnerships.”
