Groups Forming Now
Sign up now if you are interested in joining a winter/spring 2025 foyers group!
Not sure what “foyers” is? Quite simply, foyers is an opportunity for those who participate to become better acquainted and enjoy each other’s company. Small groups of adults (typically 6-10 people, couples and singles welcome) meet in one another’s homes for a simple meal and fellowship. The group rotates homes until everyone in the group has had a chance to host.
A 1995 document outlining Foyer Information & Guidelines for Grace Episcopal Church begins,
FOYER–French word meaning “hearthside” — implying the warmth of a close, small group of friends or family members sharing a common love and concern for each other. It is gratefully acknowledged that the inspiration and example for the forming of Foyer Groups came from The Cathedral Church of St. Michael, Coventry, England.
Quoting from ‘Acommon Discipline’, both Coventry Cathedral and The Cathedral of St. Philip: “Foyers meet approximately once a month in each others’ homes. Meals are simple and such as to discourage competition…as to richness or abundance, It is not intended that Foyers should have the character of study groups.”
Just as it was in 1995, the primary goal of foyers is still for participants to get to know and love one another better.
Have you been at Grace for a while? Foyers is a great way to get to know new faces. Just started coming to Grace? Come get acquainted with those who know and love the church.
Singles are always welcome to sign up for foyers! If you are interested, however, in possibly sharing hosting duties and expense with someone else, please contact Caryl Rinker. She is happy to put people in contact with one another to form “foyer partnerships.”
Sign up below or email Nancy Richardson if you have general questions about Foyers. We hope you will consider participating!
