April 13-19 at Grace

Palm Sunday & Holy Week

We begin Holy Week at Grace Church on Palm Sunday with a commemoration of Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. On Maundy Thursday we celebrate the institution of what we have come to see as the Holy Eucharist and on Good Friday commemorate the Crucifixion of our Lord.

The Great Vigil on Saturday evening is the pivotal service that symbolically marks the transition of Jesus Christ from death to life, with the celebration continuing on Easter Day.

Palm Sunday, April 13  8:15 & 10:45 AM
Maundy Thursday, April 17  7:00 PM
Good Friday, April 18  12:00 PM
Great Vigil, April 19  7:00 PM
Easter Sunday, April 20  9:00 & 11:00 AM

Eggs & Candy

Parishioners are invited to donate bags of small candy and/or bags of plastic eggs for use in the egg hunt on Easter Sunday. There is no need to pre-fill the eggs. Donations are requested by Sunday, April 13. Thank you!

Easter Flower Deadline

The deadline to donate toward Easter flowers is 9 AM on Monday, April 14.

Children’s Chapel

Children’s Chapel will not meet on April 13 or 20.

Eucharist at Lanier Village

There will not be a service at Lanier Village Estates on Tuesday, April 15.

EYC Agape Meal

The Greek word agape means selfless, unconditional love. Mirroring a meal that Jesus would have shared with his disciples, an agape meal expresses koinonia (fellowship) enjoyed by Christian community.

Youth will gather in the youth room at 6 PM on April 17, before the Maundy Thursday service, to share a simple meal that reflects first century middle eastern tradition.

Compline

Compline will not meet on Tuesday, April 22.

Concert: Ava Pakiam

Grace Church Friends of Music welcomes violinist Ava Pakiam, performing with pianist Cole Anderson, on Sunday, May 18 at 4:00 PM. Concert is free; a reception will follow in the parish hall.

Ava Pakiam is a 14 year old sought after soloist and recitalist currently residing in the Bay Area. A student at the Pre College of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music since the age of seven, Ava presently studies with renowned violin professor, Simon James.

She will offer a Q & A session at 3:00 PM in the nave for anyone that would like to attend

Christian Education

CE will not meet April 13 & 20. The last two classes for the church school year are April 27 & May 4.

Special Forum to Explore Parish Finances and Planned Giving

From time to time, we offer a special forum that focuses on the basics of the parish’s finances. With so many moving pieces at Grace, some may wonder how all it all fits together—and how our shared budget supports the entirety of our ministry in the community. As well, we are launching a new Planned Giving Society, the 1828 Society, as part of the Bicentennial Celebration.

The forum on May 4 will highlight both the existing parish finances as well as the opportunities to share in the planned giving at Grace. You are invited to come and explore this vital aspect of the parish’s life and hear from key parish leadership who coordinate these ministries.

Performing Arts Camp

Grace Episcopal Church, in collaboration with Cherokee Bluff Theatre, is thrilled to announce the launch of an exciting summer Performing Arts Camp for rising 3rd to 8th graders. The camp will run in two sessions from June 16-20 and June 23-28 at Grace Church, culminating in live performances at Brenau University’s historic Pearce Auditorium on June 27-28. The camp will showcase a student production of the beloved musical Matilda Jr., based on Roald Dahl’s classic story.
