Parish feast days give a community a key focus point in the year to pay closer attention to a key facet and teaching from Jesus’s own life.
As part of our prayers Sunday, we will offer a time for folks to walk onto the chancel and view the stone embedded in our altar. The stone, carved in the shape of the cross, is from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, in Jerusalem, a site that for over 1,500 years has been the focus of veneration for Christ’s crucifixion and burial. This relic embedded in our altar helps us have a physical grounding for our prayers. It is a sacramental experience for us to come forward and offer a prayer and remember. So, look for that moment at the end of both services.
We will also have a parish-wide continental breakfast from 9:00 to 9:30 in the parish hall. Breakfast will be followed by CE classes for all ages from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. This will give us all a chance to spend time together as we step more fully into the fall season at Grace.
Each year, the parish community makes a commitment to live into God’s call for our lives, and we embody this participation in our operating budget.
Our stewardship theme this year is “Together, we are Grace.” It invites us to reflect on how we understand our connection with one another as the Body of Christ in this particular place.

Parenting with Grace: conference room
Beginning THIS Monday, September 18, join the Rev. Dr. Park for a Bible Study that will explore the three Biblical texts of Ruth, Esther, and Judith and their characters. We will make use of several resources and engage the texts from many different perspectives – social, political, language, theological, and historical. Our shared reflections will include art, poetry, music, and other modes for expressing holy imagination.
The tentative location for the class is the Conference Room/Library. Notice will be given if construction makes that difficult. We will gather each Monday (unless there is a Monday federal holiday) from 10:30 AM until12:00 PM.
Most of the interior of The Grace Center is open, but at present is only accessible via the connector corridor from the main campus. Doors are blocked for entry, and should only be used for exit in the event of an emergency. Some parking is still available in the lot next to the Grace Center, but you will need to walk down the sidewalk and enter the building through the St. Francis Garden.
The “front desk” of the parish office is currently located in the greeting area. If you visit the office during normal hours (Monday – Thursday from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM) please come to the St. Francis Garden doors. If no one is there to let you in call 770-536-0126. If you are stopping by to see a certain staff member we recommend calling ahead, as there may be days when the majority of the staff are working remotely.
