A couple weeks ago, I hosted a newcomer lunch for folks who are new to the community (really, within the past two years or so). I was thrilled that some fifty folks signed up to come. It was a very meaningful time for people to begin getting to know one another better. Looking at this next week, the Nonnemaker family will be with us at Grace, with Brandon’s first day in the office being Monday, July 24. All these threads reminded me of how we have a very good opportunity to hit the refresh button on our nametags and the online directory.
If you do not have a nametag, I encourage you to let us know. There is a pad of paper by the information table where you can write your name. If you have a nametag, I encourage you to wear it as we keep finding ways to learn more of who we are as a community. It is a very welcoming thing to do for a new priest and their family, to say nothing of everyone who is still connecting the pieces.
As well, if you have not done so, I encourage you to use the online member directory! We worked hard to set up this great resource for the community, and it is a very useful tool. You can upload a photo you choose to your profile, decide what information you want others to see, and access useful information for yourselves—and all from a handy app on your phone!
I look forward to this fall, and I am grateful for this incredible community we share!

If you plan to join us for our Day in the Mountains and Picnic Lunch at Vogel on Saturday, July 29, please contact Jeremy Landers by Sunday, July 23, to sign up. If you’d like to come but won’t know until the last moment, let Jeremy know you are a “maybe” so we can be sure to bring enough supplies.
This family friendly event is organized by the hike group for all members of Grace and their friends to enjoy. Located at the base of Blood Mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest, with an elevation of 2,500 feet, Vogel is a great spot to spend a hot summer day. All are welcome!
Our special potluck lunch to welcome the Nonnemaker family is planned for Sunday, August 6, at noon in the Parish Hall. The church will supply chicken, green beans, and mac and cheese. Potluck sides are listed here based on last name, so we have a nice variety of extra dishes to enjoy!
This is a wonderful opportunity to gather for fellowship, good food, and to meet Rev. Brandon Nonnemaker, our new Associate Rector for Children, Youth, and Families.
