Easton Davis, the communications person on the bishop’s staff, was at Grace for worship and our parish picnic in May. He worked to gather video and images on that Sunday and has now gifted us with a new introductory welcome video for our parish. I’m so excited about it… and I know you will love it as well.
To see the faces, hear the voices, and experience the enormous gifts of this community—what a joy!
The video can also be found on the homepage of this website, YouTube channel, and we have posted it on our Facebook page. We are excited about this opportunity to tell our story and communicate our mission outside our parish and challenge each one of you to share it with others.

After reading through the survey comments, listening at the Ministry Fair, and balancing the fullness of parish life with constraints on food service, etc., (whew), the team has put together a list of parish fellowship opportunities for the fall. While we cannot bring back the weekly Wednesday night dinners because of constraints, we have worked to imagine many different ways that we can be together as a community. Broadly speaking, for shared meals, we are bringing back potluck dishes, which was the original intent behind having parish events be times when everyone contributed.
Here is a schedule that, we think, connects with us all and offers regular opportunities for conversations and fellowship.
Sunday, September 18 – Feast of the Holy Cross
parish breakfast (catered), parish hall, 9:00 – 10:30 AM
Wednesday, October 5 – Art & Spirit Community Event
potluck snacks (wine and cheese, etc.) provided, parish hall, 6:00 – 7:30 PM
Wednesday, October 26 – Trunk or Treat
Varsity food truck (purchase tickets), preschool parking lot, 5:30 – 7:00 PM
Wednesday, November 16 – Parish Thanksgiving Dinner
potluck meal, turkey and drinks provided, parish hall, 5:30 – 7:00 PM
Sunday, December 18 – Messiah Sing-Along
community event, no snacks planned, Nave, 3:00 PM
Hope you can participate in some or all of these events!

Thank you to our Wednesday Knitting Group who is thoughtfully making “Twiddle Muffs” to be given to Alzheimer and Dementia patients. A special thank you to parishioner Judy Carpenter whose enthusiasm engaged all of the knitters in this worthy offering of their time and talent.
Grace Church will host Family Promise at The Homestead on McEver Road August 22-29. We will be responsible for dinners Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, alongside spending time with the families and providing activities for the children while we are there. To volunteer please email Tricia McDuff. We will also need people to provide snacks, breakfast items and lunch items once we know the needs for the week.
As we look toward the start of fall, with school and details settling in, we now see that we need additional help at the front desk of the church office. If you are curious about helping the community, please reach out to us and let us know. We can share additional details.
In the meantime, we ask those of you calling or visiting the parish office to have patience if there are delays answering the doorbell or phone!
We are gathering ideas from the folks who shared in the Ministry Fair on Sunday, and one idea that made immediate sense is to add a page under the “Connect” tab on the parish website that has a list of ministry and committee contacts. This will make it even easier to reach out to others if you are interested in learning more about an aspect of the parish’s life.
In order to do this, we are asking ANY MINISTRY OR COMMITTEE that wishes to be included on the page to reach out to Jennifer Williams and share the contact person’s name and email address you wish to use. When the office hears from you, we will add your contact information to the list.
Look ahead to upcoming opportunities for prayer, worship, and community!
