Dear People of Grace,
I am writing to let you know that Cheryl Kelley will be leaving her position as Director of Christian Formation at Grace to begin work with Georgia Legal Services. Of course this is bittersweet for us all, even as we can immediately see how Cheryl’s enormous gifts with her legal background as well as her pastoral presence will be an invaluable resource for the wider community.
Cheryl’s last day on staff will be Sunday, August 7—although we will celebrate her during the 10:45 AM service on Sunday, August 14. I invite all of our children, youth, and their parents to write a card and bring it to church that Sunday, to give to Cheryl during the Peace. It will be wonderful to give thanks together.
Cheryl joined Grace nearly thirty years ago when she and Charles returned to Gainesville, so they have been stalwart parishioners, with their sons as well, for a long time. I am personally grateful that we will continue to share our life together here at Grace, even with Cheryl moving to work with Georgia Legal Services. I will be forever grateful for Cheryl’s work with children and youth, as well as her presence with grief support groups, adult formation, and the women’s retreats. Everything Cheryl has touched has been filled with grace and deep compassion. She was also an incredible Senior Warden!
Don’t forget to come share in the thanksgiving on Sunday, August 14 as we share our gratitude. As for next steps, I am working with the wardens and the team to look at opportunities for staffing, and I will let you know very soon.

A Note from Cheryl:
Greetings friends,I wanted to let you know that I am leaving my position here at Grace to join the team at Georgia Legal Services in representing the poor in our community in civil matters. I have such mixed feelings as I write this! I’m excited about this new opportunity, but I will miss working with each of you so much! You’ve made my time here at Grace such a joy, and it’s been a privilege to learn and grow with you. I will forever be grateful for your support and encouragement in so many, many ways.
Cheryl
