Breakfast A continental breakfast will be served in the parish hall between worship services. Come end your Lenten fast.
Flowering the Cross All parishioners are invited to bring flowers and greenery from their garden to help flower the cross. This traditional Easter morning activity symbolizes that an instrument of cruel death has become a sign of life and love by the power and grace of God.
Egg Hunt Children 5th grade and younger are invited to bring their Easter baskets and meet at the crow’s nest across the street on the Brenau lawn (weather permitting) to participate in an egg hunt that will begin immediately following the 11:00 AM service.
The T3 men’s group will meet at Tap It (110 Maple Street, Gainesville) at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 19. Bring ideas for discussion topics that interest you, and join us for some more pub theology.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Sunday, May 1, to come and learn more at our Spring Parish Ministry Fair. We will dedicate the Sunday Forum time, 9:30 to 10:30, as a time to explore the various ministries opportunities at Grace. If you are new to the parish, it is a great chance to learn more about where you can share your gifts and strengths.
If you are helping lead or coordinate a ministry, please start making plans now for sign-up sheets, information, and other items that will help others become more aware of potential spaces they can explore. Let Fr. Stuart know that you plan to participate so we can plan for tables and space accordingly.
We often think of grief as only the suffering that results from a death. But actually, grief is the normal and natural reaction to loss of any kind. It’s the conflicting feelings we experience when our familiar patterns change—for better or for worse. Thus, we grieve all sorts of things: the loss of a loved one, through death or divorce, the loss of a job, the loss of our health, for sure. But also, sometimes surprisingly, we grieve over “good things” like our children going off to college, or settling into retirement, or moving to a new home.
The Grief Recovery Method is an eight week course which offers information and specific actions we can take to help work through those feelings and recover our sense of energy and spontaneity. We’ll start a new 8 week class beginning the week of May 16, at a time to be agreed upon by the participants. There is a $20 fee to cover the cost of course materials. Please contact Cheryl Kelley for more information and to register.
The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19.
Look ahead to upcoming opportunities for prayer, worship, and community!
