The Lenten study, Are We There Yet? Learning to Recognize the Process of Spiritual Maturation, begins this Tuesday, March 2, at 5:00 PM. The four-week study will be facilitated by Cheryl Kelley on Zoom. Join us as we seek to understand the spiritual needs of individuals at different stages of life in order to cultivate compassion and awareness for ourselves and others.
For those new to the life of this parish–and those who have been here for a while but would appreciate a “refresher course”– an Episcopal 101 class is being offered from 9:30 – 10:20 AM on Sundays. Even if you missed the first session last week, please join us February 28, March 7, 14, and 21!
Cynthia and Stuart are offering a special sermon series during Lent to focus our attention on prayer. Their sermons are orbiting around the questions of “What is prayer?” “How do you pray?” and “How do you become prayer?” How can we move from a transactional understanding of asking God for favors to a transformational posture that affirms the presence of God in all our lives? How are we challenged to be aware of what we mean when we say “I will pray for you?”

In-person, outdoor worship services will resume in April! Join us for Eucharist on Maundy Thursday, April 1, at 12:00 PM and on Easter Sunday, April 4, at 9:30 AM. In-person Communion services will then be held regularly on Sundays at 9:30 AM.
As was the case with in-person worship last fall, we will have space for 50 people total to come together on the Sanctuary Plaza to share in the breaking of bread. Every person that attends the service must register. Masks are required, as well as physical distancing. Complete details can be found on the registration form.
Please note: Morning Prayer will continue on Sundays at 8:15 on Zoom and at 10:45 AM on our website and Facebook page. Compline will continue weeknights at 8:00 PM on Zoom.
On Palm Sunday we recall Jesus’ return to Jerusalem, and share the moments that took him from the gates of Jerusalem to the cross. This year, we’d like to invite you to help us share that story! We’re asking folks to make a video of one scene each and we’ll piece the videos together—much like our Christmas Pageant this year. This video will be used as the Gospel Reading during the liturgies on Palm Sunday. If you’re willing to help, please sign up at the link below.
The Grace Church Centering Prayer group invites you to join them on Zoom, Monday evenings from 5:00 – 6:00 PM. The Zoom link can be found in the On The Calendar section of the parish newsletter. Each meeting begins with a brief opening; then participants sit in silence for 20 minutes, ending with the Lord’s Prayer. A sharing of video or short discussion of spiritual topic of choice follows.
A Minnesota Contemplative Outreach groups writes about Centering Prayer; “The chief effect of Centering Prayer is to live from the center of our being. This of course does not mean that we do not interact with the world. On the contrary, we interact with the world better than before because we are not defending ourselves from people or circumstances but living from the reality as it unfolds. Centering Prayer, then, is not just a method of prayer but initiates a process that involves the response of our whole being to the gospel and its values. It is a journey. Simply love God. Be in God’s presence in that love.”
We begin this new season of Lent with an opportunity to reset and begin again with God and ourselves, as well as the values and ideals that we espouse for our life. Join Bishop Wright in a 5-part video series to help guide us during this season of sacrifice and self-examination.
