England 2020: A Pilgrimage of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty

For centuries, philosophers and theologians have tried to describe the experience of human desire, what we yearn for. Within all human life, three “transcendentals” have been the focus: truth, goodness, and beauty. For Christians, we see God as being the source and embodiment of these, and our practice of faith is filled with our own reflection and search for God in truth, goodness, and beauty. How better to dig deep into our practice of faith with a pilgrimage?

Next June, we will have a parish pilgrimage to England, where our focus will be on learning more about the wider Anglican tradition in terms of these transcendentals. Where do we encounter God in terms of architecture, or music, or art, poetry, literature, culture, and even food? Our journey will take us to London, Canterbury, Cambridge, York, and the Holy Isle of Lindisfarne. There are still 15 open spaces on the trip. You can find a link to the itinerary and a reservation form in the June 30 issue of the newsletter. If you want to go, simply return the reservation form by July 20, so we can lock in flights. A $300 deposit is due by August 1. Let Stuart, Will, or Reba know if you have any questions.

Youth Pilgrimage

Our youth and their leaders will return from pilgrimage on Sunday, June 30. Although they did not end up blogging daily during the trip, they do plan to publish a post-pilgrimage report. So check back here later next week to learn more about their time in Scotland!
