This year’s Vacation Bible School theme is Who Is My Neighbor? Learning to Love Like Jesus. Bible stories for the week focus on the greatest commandments to love God, our neighbors, and ourselves. As the children of Vacation Bible school wonder together about who our neighbors are, and what loving a neighbor looks like, grownups are invited to the next meeting of The Gathering on Sunday, June 23 at 5:00 PM.
We’ll meet at Main Street Market, and will turn our eyes toward a deeper engagement with Barbara Brown Taylor’s Holy Envy, and look at how what we love in our neighbor’s faith might lead us to new insights about our own, like some of those considered in Richard Rohr’s Universal Christ. Please join us!
Twelve youth and seven of their leaders will be on pilgrimage to Scotland and Iona from June 23-30. This pilgrimage is possible because of the entire parish committing to partner with our youth as they studied, played, prayed, and served together in preparation over the past eighteen months. So, thank you!
Please hold the pilgrims in your prayers: Cynthia and Jack, Nate and Ginny, Shannon, Joey, Amy, Anna, Paul, Luke, Brock, Spencer, Hunter, Nate, Ben, David, Emma, Caroline, Ella
Ginny will be blogging daily during the trip. Check back here for updates from Scotland!
During VBS this year, children will be learning how to love like Jesus by exploring what the Bible says about Who Is My Neighbor? and how we should treat our neighbors. As part of that process, we are partnering with the Georgia Mountain Food Bank to collect food and prepare PIN (“person in need”) bags for people seeking emergency assistance from the Food Bank. Each bag contains:
Please consider donating some or all of the items above to the VBS food drive by Wednesday, June 26 so that there will be plenty of supplies for the service project on Friday. Thanks for your support!
