Advent 2016 at Grace Church

A new church liturgical year began on November 27 with The First Sunday of Advent! Advent is also a time of spiritual preparation and anticipation. All are invited to participate fully in the season with the following events and activities.

Advent Wreath Making

Sunday, November 27 :: 9:30 - 10:30 AM

Parishioners gathered to make Advent wreaths during the Christian Education hour and celebrate the beginning of Advent and a New Church Year.

Advent Retreat: A Mindfully Chosen Life

Saturday, December 10 :: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

The Very Rev. Mary Demmler led participants in an exploration of the influences and expectations that effect decision making.

Blue Christmas Worship

Sunday, December 11 :: 5:30 PM

Blue? Yes, blue as in “the blues.” A number of human situations make the season painful for many people. Our Blue Christmas Worship was a service offering time for reflection and acceptance, healing and hope in times of darkness.

Advent Lessons & Carols

Sunday, December 18 :: 6:00 PM

On Sunday, December 18, the Grace Church Parish Choir will offer a service of Advent Lessons & Carols at 6:00 PM. This beautiful service, an Anglican tradition, is meant to help us prepare for Christmas. Scripture lessons will be read and Advent carols sung by the choir and the congregation.

A Soup and Salad supper will be offered at 5:00 PM. Make a meal reservation by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, December 14. No reservations are necessary to attend the service at 6:00 PM.

Candlelight Café

Wednesdays :: 5:30 PM

The very popular Candlelight Café will return on Wednesday evenings. Parishioners are encouraged to come relax in Grace Church’s Candlelight Café during Advent!

Laying on of Hands for Healing

Sundays :: 10:45 AM

Laying on of Hands and Prayer for Healing is offered at the 10:45 AM service every Sunday during Advent. Parishioners with concerns to be lifted up in a sharing, loving fellowship are invited to stop by one of the teams in the side aisles after communion.

This year, we have gathered offerings from parishioners, many from our youth and their leaders, that are personal reflections on the Daily Office scripture texts for Advent. Chapel Open

The chapel is open for personal quiet time, prayer, and meditation from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday.
