2018 Annual Parish Picnic

Rain may put a bit of a damper on our picnic plans for this coming Sunday, but I want to encourage you to come. I always look forward to this day each year, when we all come together for one service to share in this major feast of our faith: Pentecost. You'll remember that Easter Season has fifty days in it, culminating on Pentecost, which of course means "fifty." It is a pivotal time for the Church, as we gather to listen to the story of how the Spirit of Christ swirled amongst the disciples gathered in the room that day. It was hard for the Gospel writers and the writer of Acts to describe what happened to them, so they try their best in language and images of "tongues of fire" and "flames." We haven't gotten any better at describing the Spirit at work in our lives. It remains a mystery-one that we are called to celebrate.

So this coming Sunday, May 20, we will share one service together at 10:00 AM. We will celebrate a baptism and graduations! We will share in wonderful hymns and scripture readings full of powerful images of dry bones and swirling flames. At the end of the service, we will stay in the nave to take a parish family photo that we will use in our new website design. Then, we will all eat our fill of chicken fingers and more coleslaw than we can shake a stick at.

See you Sunday!

It's that time of year again - our Parish Picnic is scheduled for Sunday, May 20 following a 10:00 AM combined worship service and we hope you plan to be there! This is a wonderful opportunity to gather for fellowship, fun activities, and good food.

Delicious chicken and beverages will be provided. Please bring a dish to share according to the following assignment based on the first letter of your last name. We rotate the categories every year and would greatly appreciate you bringing a dish for the category that applies to you so that we end up with a tasty variety of food with plenty for everyone. We have plenty of serving utensils, so there is no need to bring your own.

  • A-H: Cold Side (ex. salads, fresh fruit, veggie tray with dip)
  • I-N: Dessert
  • O-Z: Hot Side (ex. mac & cheese, baked beans, scalloped potatoes, green beans)

Bring your appetite and come for good food and fellowship!

Also, our last Grace Family Photo was taken in 2015 so it is time for an update! A new photo will be taken in the nave at the end of the 10:00 AM combined service so please plan to attend so you can be included.
