2016 Blessing of Animals

Grace Episcopal Church, First Presbyterian Church, and the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia invite you and your pets to a Blessing of Animals on Sunday, October 2 at 4:00 PM.

Held each year in observance of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, the service provides not only an opportunity for our pets to be blessed, but also for us to give thanks for the many blessings we receive through our pets and other animals. It also is a time to remember our responsibility to befriend and care for animals.

We will gather for the service on the Brenau lawn across the street from Grace Church at 431 Washington Street. (Note: If it is raining, animals will be blessed under the porte-cochere along Boulevard!) Pets of all shapes and sizes are welcome, but please provide the appropriate restraint for any animal you bring. Owners are responsible for pet waste.

Those who attend are invited to bring a donation for the Humane Society. In addition to monetary donations, in-kind items on HSNEGA’s “Wish List” and gift cards to local grocery stores, office supply stores, pet stores or Walmart, Sam’s Club or Target are always welcome, as well, to purchase needed supplies. A full wish list can be found on the HSNEGA website.

NOTE: Photos of our past Blessing of Animals events are posted on our Facebook page. The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia posted photos on their Facebook page as well!
