About the Program

The  academic school year at COG typically begins in late August and usually ends around the third week in May. Our hours of operation are 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  COG offers the following programs:

  • Mother's Morning Out - This program is offered to children ages 6 months to 23 months. Children are allowed to attend two days per week.
  • Preschool - This program is offered to children ages 2 through 5 years. Children are allowed to attend two, three or five days per week.

Children of Grace’s curriculum offers opportunities for learning in a developmentally appropriate environment. Social and emotional development of the child is a major focus. We emphasize self-awareness, cooperative behavior, and self-confidence. Our program offers learning through free play, stories, art projects, finger plays, music, snack, outdoor play, manipulatives, and language skills.

We have been using the curriculum “The Letter People” for many years now. Let’s begin with the Letter People is a developmentally appropriate Pre-K program emphasizing literacy learning. Our Pre-K program is not lottery funded.

Religious Instruction

The school provides chapel time twice monthly for the Pre-K classes to experience stories from the Bible and prayers. The clergy of Grace Church assist in leading chapel. The religious significance of holidays is included in the curriculum. In addition, each class is taught a mealtime blessing that is used daily at snack and lunch.

Student Activities

  • Music—Music is offered to all classes (except Pre-Toddler) once a week. Toddlers begin after the first of the calendar year. The children are taught both religious and secular songs as well as playing rhythm band instruments. All children from the younger two classes and up participate in the “Christmas and Spring Fling” programs.
  • Art/Science—Art projects and science experiments are offered to all classes (except Pre-Toddler) once a week. Toddlers begin after the first of the calendar year.
  • Computers—COG offers computer availability to children in the Three Year Old and Pre-K classes. This exposes students to basic computer skills while reinforcing the curriculum taught in the classrooms.
  • Field Trips—Pre-K classes have the opportunity to participate in a variety of field trips throughout the year. Children are not allowed to attend field trips without a parent’s consent.
  • Birthday Parties—Birthdays are an exciting time for children and we welcome and encourage birthday parties. Parties need to take place at snack time or after lunch so please talk with the teacher when scheduling a time for such parties. We would like to encourage parents to donate a book in honor of your child’s special day. This is a great way to continue building our library at COG.
  • Holiday Parties—Holidays will be celebrated throughout the year, and are an integral part of your child’s learning process.

Summer Program

COG offers a summer program for children age 6 months to rising 1st graders each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during June and July. Children enjoy weeks with fun themes and different activities. Enrollment is typically held in March on a first come, first served basis.
